The Fast ForWord® program accelerates learning
The Fast ForWord program is a computerised learning advancement program that exercises the brain to increase processing speed and capacity, just as physical workouts train the body to be fitter and stronger.
Based on over 30 years of research into how the brain learns, the Fast ForWord program was designed by some of the world’s leading learning researchers. The intensive and effective learning program is typically used 30-50 minutes a day, 5 days a week for a minimum of 12 weeks, which is the equivalent of over 60 hours of one-to-one learning instruction.
The Fast ForWord program is used by learners of all ages and levels of ability at home, school or in the workplace with remote supervision and ongoing feedback from Sonic Learning’s team of experienced health and education professionals.
The Fast ForWord® program develops cognitive skills
Almost anyone can benefit because the Fast ForWord program directly trains and develops the essential cognitive skills:
-
Memory (short and long term), which is essential for word recognition, understanding complex sentences and following instructions
-
Attention, which is necessary for focusing on information and tasks, and ignoring distractions, particularly in noisy environments such as the classroom or workplace
-
Processing speed, which determines how quickly we comprehend what we see and hear, the speed at which we pick up new concepts, and how well we can follow multiple instructions
-
Sequencing, which relies on memory, attention and processing skills, and is essential for remembering information and instructions in the correct order.
The Fast ForWord® program develops foundational reading skills
Fast ForWord also develops the foundational reading skills of vocabulary, phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency and comprehension.
Fit brains learn better
Following participation in Fast ForWord programs, students are better able to follow instructions, remember information, pay attention and participate in classroom discussions. Their reading, spelling and comprehension skills improve, along with their enjoyment of learning. Their self-confidence increases which can lead to better behaviour and sociability.
Recommended by neuroscientists, audiologists, speech pathologists, education psychologists, teachers, medical practitioners, parents and university researchers, and used by over 3 million learners world-wide since its release in 1997, the Fast ForWord program educates unlike traditional learning or tutoring environments.
